Research 101 is a community focused initiative by Mind Webs (a unit of Laminar Stream Innovations Pvt. Ltd.) that aims to provide exposure and provide hands-on experience to students and enthusiasts who are interested in pursuing research or preparing their first publication at undergraduate level. The cohort is completely free of cost for anyone participating.

Welcome to the first cohort of Research 101
The first cohort will run for a period of six weeks starting January 2024. The registration window will be open till December 25. Upon registration, a selection procedure will take place that will help us choose and map the initial batch will be selected for the cohort.

Basic Procedure
Get direct exposure to the process of navigating a research project, the methodologies associated with it and drafting the outcomes.

Pre-Cohort
Welcome to The Cohort and Mentor Mapping
Selected participants will identify and engage with a peer cohort and will be mapped with mentors in their field for guidance and support.
Week 1
Selecting your Topic and Getting Familiar with Technical Writing
Participants will choose a focused research topic and acquire foundational skills in technical writing, emphasizing clear and structured communication.
Week 2
Reading between the lines of Multiple Research Papers
Participants will analyze multiple papers to understand current knowledge and develop critical reading skills for evaluating methodologies and conclusions.
Week 3-5
Executing your Research and Drafting it
Participants will closely work with their mentors to methodically conduct their research, simultaneously documenting their process and preliminary findings in a structured draft.
Week 6
The Art of Reviewing a Paper
Through iterative peer and mentor reviews, participants will refine their draft, focusing on content, flow, and adherence to publication standards.
Week 7+
Exploring the Avenues and Publishing it
Once the Cohort is over, participants take ahead the work to extend in as a part of the open community. With the help of the mentors, participants will identify suitable journals or conferences for submission, preparing and submitting their manuscripts in line with specific publication guidelines. Publication is subject to merit of the paper.
